Al Johnson returns as Principal to McKinley-ALC. Mr. Johnson holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's degree from Northwestern University of St. Paul. He is currently working on his doctorate at Bethel University.
Mr. Johnson served six years as an equity integration specialist in Hopkins, Minnesota, facilitating before and after school programs. He served as Site Administrator at Humbolt High School for two years and also worked as a student advocate.
As a product of the Minneapolis Public school system, where he felt disconnected from the mainstream environment, Mr. Johnson has a goal at ALC "to light a fire and a spark in students who either didn't have the opportunity or weren't willing to take it" at their home school. He wants all students to understand that education is the key to their future.
Mr. Johnson has seven children and two grandchildren. All seven of his kids are either college graduates or college-bound.
Robert E. Murry returns this year as Assistant Principal at McKinley-ALC. He has worked in the field of education for 24 years at many different levels, with numerous job titles, in a diverse range of districts.
Mr. Murry was born on the south side of Chicago, IL. He went to high school on the south side of Minneapolis graduating from Minneapolis Roosevelt High School. He has a great appreciation for the opportunity to work with the students, staff, and parents of District 742.
Little Known Fact: He was the Captain of his High School Wrestling Team.
